Anthony Mergey
Anthony Mergey is Professor of Law at University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.
His specialty is Legal History. He is the author of numerous publications on these subjects and has frequently moderated seminars and training sessions.
He teaches Historical Introduction to Law, State History, Comparative Constitutional History, History of Administration and History of Administrative Law.

Marie-Élodie Ancel
Marie-Élodie Ancel is a professor at University Paris-Panthéon-Assas, where she teaches private international law and comparative law.
Professor Ancel regularly publishes case notes and articles relating to dispute resolution and applicable law, especially in the fields of contracts, intellectual property and e-commerce. Her first book was dedicated to The Characteristic Performance of the Contract (Economica, 2002) in French contract law and European private international law. Co-writer with Professors Pascale Deumier and Malik Laazouzi of a book on international contracts (Sirey, 2020), she also worked with Professor Hélène Gaudemet-Tallon on the sixth edition of her book Compétence et exécution des jugements en Europe (LGDJ, 2018). In 2013,she created Lynxlex, an online legal database dedicated to the private international law instruments of the European Union (www.lynxlex.com)
Furthermore, Professor Ancel is one of the vice-chairpersons of the Comité français de droit international privé, a member of the Comité français de l’arbitrage and one of the co-founders of the International Academy for Arbitration Law (Arbitration Academy).

Jean-Jacques Ansault
Jean-Jacques Ansault is Professor of Law at University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.
He teaches various aspects of Commercial Law (Company Law, Banking and Financial Law, Insolvency Law) and of Private Law (Securities Law, Contract Law and Civil Enforcement Proceedings). He has published numerous articles relating to Securities Law, Insolvency Law and Company Law. He is also specialised in OHADA law. He writes a book on Civil Enforcement Proceedings. He frequently conducts seminars and training sessions on all these matters.

Pierre-Emmanuel Audit
Senior lecturer of Personal Law, holder of an LL.M obtained at Harvard Law School. His research and teachings cover Fundamental Rights, Sociology of Personal Law and Civil Rights.

Daren Prithiviraj Balluck
Daren read law at the University of Wolverhampton and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004. In 2005, he was called to the bar before the Supreme Court of Mauritius and practiced as Barrister-at-Law for several years at the Chambers of Madun Gujadhur QC. He also lectured at the London School of Law (Mauritius) ltd, the University of Mauritius and the Council of Legal Education. Daren is currently a District Magistrate and took judicial office in 2012. He has been sitting in various Districts of Mauritius namely Port-Louis, Upper, Lower Plaines Wilhems and the Bail and Remand Court.

Denis Baranger
Professor of Public Law, he specialises in Constitutional Law, Philosophy of Law and History of Political Thought.
He is an honorary member of the French University Institute and has sat as a qualified figure in the working group for the National Assembly (2014-2015) on the future of institutions. He is the co-director of the National Journal of Constitutional Law www.juspoliticum.com and the Law and Philosophy Journal. He teaches General Constitutional Law and Principles of Public Law.

Lilïa Ben Romdan
Ph.D. candidate in Arbitration Law, her thesis deals with states courts’ intervention in arbitral proceedings and International Arbitration through a comparative analysis between the Law of Gulf countries (under the supervision of Professor Georges Khairallah).
Her research work and teachings cover Arbitration Law, Corporate Law and Comparative Law.

Nicolas Binctin
Professor of Private Law, his research concerns IP Law.
He is regularly invited for many conferences in both France and abroad. He has published many articles in French and English, a monography on Corporate strategy and IP, and the 4th edition of his Law book on French and European IP law was published in 2016.
He is the co-head of the working group for the codification of the EU IP law with Gerald Spindler that was launched by the Foundation for the Civil Law Initiative. He is an expert arbitrator in different fields of IP law and Business Law. He teaches Business and Intellectual Property Law in its various components.

Vinod Boolell
Vinod Boolell holds a law degree from Oxford University and was called to the Bar at Inner Temple London. He also holds a Maîtrise in French law and a Diploma from the French Ecole de la Magistrature, Paris.
After practicing at the Bar, he joined the Office of the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions in 1972, where his duties consisted in advising government departments and being a prosecutor in high profile offences.
In 1988 he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court. He has also served as a District Magistrate where he presided over criminal and civil cases. He also served as the President of the Industrial Court that has jurisdiction to hear disputes relating to employment matters.
In 1985 he was a member of a Committee established by the Government of Mauritius to review the law on the lease of immovable property
In 1986 he was a Special investigator for the Commission of Inquiry on Drugs., His duties were to investigate all suspected drug traffickers with the help of the police and to probe into their bank accounts and other assets.
He was also a Member of the Judicial and Service Commission for the government of Mauritius. The Commission makes recommendations to the President of the Republic for the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court.; the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Solicitor General and all Law Officers of the Attorney General’s Office and magistrates of the District Courts.
Vinod Boolell has also been a Member of the Board of Examiners at the Council of Legal Education that is responsible for organizing professional courses and examinations for members of the legal profession.
In 2001 he joined the United Nations Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights and was appointed as an adviser to the Supreme Court of Cambodia. His duties consisted in advising the judges and prosecutors of the Court on human rights application in the criminal justice system.
In 2003 he was mandated by the International Bar Association to carry out a survey of the legal profession in Cambodia.
From 2002 to 2009 he served as aJudge and later Chief International Judge, with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. In Kosovo, he investigated and presided over cases dealing with war crimes, ethnic murders, trafficking, terrorism, illegal possession of weapons, illegal immigration, economic crimes, extradition, and child kidnapping.He also monitored and actively participated in the efforts of the United Nations for the transition of powers to the local judiciary and for institutional and capacity building at both regional and provincial level for the judiciary in Kosovo.
In Kosovo he also gave lectures to the judges, prosecutors and police officers of the European Mission, who were taking over from the United Mission, on war crimes, criminal law and procedure.
Between December 2005 and 2006 he was a Speaker at Seminars on Rule of Law organised by the European Commission in Germany and Sweden on investigation and trial of high-profile crimes, namely, war crimes, ethnic killings, human trafficking, organized crime., terrorism, corruption and money laundering.
In July 2009 he was appointed Judge and President of the United Nations Dispute Tribunal and served in that capacity until June 2016.His duties included adjudicating disputes arising between staff members of the United Nations and the Secretary General. These disputes relate to contracts of employment including interim orders to suspend administrative actions relating to contracts of employment, disciplinary matters, financial issues and mediation. He was also involved in the preparation of annual reports on issues relating to the Tribunal to be submitted to the General Assembly.

Camille Broyelle
Professor of Public Law at the University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas, her current research and teachings cover various aspects of French Administrative Law: Administrative Litigation, Planning Law and Environmental Law.

Varuna Bunwaree Goburdhun
Varuna is a practising barrister with 17 years tenure at the Mauritian Bar. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2001 and to the Mauritian Bar in 2002 where she practised as private practitioner.
She took up employment in 2007 as an in-house lawyer with Ciel Properties Ltd (now Alteo Properties Ltd) as Head of legal and Corporate Affairs. She returned to private practice in 2009 where she practised as litigator until 2014 when she joined ENSafrica (Mtius) Ltd as Senior Associate of the Litigation Department. She was promoted to Executive in March 2016. She resumed private practice and set up her own chambers in August 2018. Varuna practises general civil and commercial law. She has a keen interest for employment, construction, property and environment law matters. She has appeared in commercial and construction arbitrations, and appears regularly before the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

Emmanuelle Chevreau
Emmanuelle Chevreau is Professor of Legal history at the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas.
She’s a specialist of Roman private law and her research focuses on the roman roots of European private law. She teaches Roman law, Roman foundations of contemporary laws, Legal anthropology, History of European idea in and arbitration in the Civil law tradition.
She is the director of the Roman law Institute and director of a research Centre for the Legal History. She also heads an International PhD program on “legal pluralism” in association with the University of Palermo (Sicily).

Irvin Collendavelloo
Irvin Collendavelloo is a practising barrister in Mauritius. He is a member of the Honourable Society of Grayâ’s Inn and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2016. He is a partner at the law firm Etude Patten-Collendavelloo. After completing his LL.B at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, he completed his Bar Professional Training Course at the University of West England, Bristol.
Prior to becoming a litigator, Irvin has acquired considerable knowledge in the political and humanitarian fields, having worked for the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the United Nations CEDAW Committee in Geneva as well as the French National Assembly in Paris. His experience covers a wide array of legal fields including criminal litigation with emphasis on corruption, and money laundering cases.
After being named partner, he has diversified the activities of his law firm by taking on competition law cases, and advising in the drafting of commercial contracts. Irvin has been teaching at the Sorbonne-Assas International Law School since September 2016.

Sabine Corneloup
Professor of Private Law, her research work covers International Private Law, International Commercial Law, Citizenship and Immigration Law and European Law. General Secretary for the Critical Journal of International Private Law and member of the German council for International Private Law, she offers various classes on International Private Law.

Caroline Coupet
Caroline Coupet is Professor of Law at University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.
She teaches various aspects of Business Law : Company Law, Commercial Law, Financial market Law, Banking and Financial law, Bankruptcy Law. She has also published numerous articles relating to Corporate, Financial and Securities Law.

Sophie Démare-Lafont
Sophie Démare-Lafont is Professor of legal history at the University Panthéon-Assas and Directeur d’études at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, PSL.
She specialized in Ancient Near Eastern law (Mesopotamia and Bible) and wrote her PhD on Criminal law of Women in the Ancient Near East. Her recent work addresses several issues regarding the Syrian kingdom of Emar in the 13th century BCE.
She is also the President of the Société d’histoire du droit.

Olivier Descamps
Professor of History of Law, he is the author of numerous publications on the history of Civil Liability Law and Contract Law. He regularly conducts workshops and conferences in France and abroad. His teaching covers the History of Personal Law, History of Canon Law and the History of European Construction.

Aurélie Duffy-Meunier
Professor in Public Law, she teaches Constitutional Law, Comparative Public Law, British Public Law, Human Rights Law and European Law. Considered as an expert in these fields and more particularly in the field of British Public Law, she is the author of numerous publications and she very often gives lectures in national and international colloquium on these subjects. She is a member of the Institut de Recherches sur l‘Evolution de la Nation et de l’Etat (IRENEE), an associate member of the Centre de Droit Public Comparé (CDPC) and of the Institut Louis Favoreu, Groupe d’études et de recherches comparées sur la justice constitutionnelle (GERJC), UMR 7318.

Quentin Epron
Senior Lecturer of Public Law, Associate Research Scholar at Yale Law School in 2012-2013, his works cover Public Law, History of Legal Thought and Philosophy of Law. He teaches Constitutional Law and the History of Political Thought.

Tania Farah
Ph.D. Candidate in Personal Law, her thesis deals with default interests on late payment and International Adjudication (under the supervision of Professor Daniel Cohen). Her research work and teachings cover Personal Law and International Adjudication.

Julian Fernandez
Professor in Public Law, he teaches public international law, international criminal law, refugee law and international affairs.
Considered as an expert in these fields, he is the author of numerous books and article on these subjects and has frequently been invited as Visiting Professor in many countries of various areas (Canada, US and west African States). He also works with UNHCR.

Estelle Fragu
Senior Lecturer of Personal Law, member of the jury for the Certificate of Aptitude for the Profession of Lawyer (CAPA), her works cover personal autonomy, consent and Human Rights. She teaches Matrimonial Law and Law of Obligations.

Claudia Ghica-Lemarchand
Professor of Criminal Law, her research and teachings cover General and Special Criminal Law as well as Criminal procedure. Considered as an expert in her field, she has frequently been invited to other countries.

Thibault Guilluy
Professor of Public Law, his work and teachings cover general Constitutional Law, the British Constitutional Law and the History of Public Law.

Ayesha Jeewa
Ayesha Jeewa has been practising as an Attorney since 1988. She is qualified in civil, commercial as well as criminal law. She has had a cross sectional experience in all fields of legal practice as attorney. Ayesha was the first chairperson of the Open University of Mauritius. She was the first Mauritian chairperson of the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA) a SADC association. She has lectured at the level of the bar. She speaks regularly at conferences, was the secretary of the Mauritius Law Society for 8 years. She holds an Executive MBA and is currently a registered candidate for a PhD on the Constitution of Mauritius.

Senior lecturer of Public Law, spokesperson for the International Law Association working group, his research work and teachings cover Constitutional Law, International Economic Law, Public International Law, and International Tax Law.

Tasneem A.R Khedarun
Fellow of the Advance Academy UK (former Higher Education Academy UK) , Tasneem holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of London, an LLM (International Commercial Law) from Northumbria University at Newcastle and a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning from Middlesex University.
Tasneem is an Associate in a well-reputed law firm in Mauritius as defined under the Law Practitioner’s Act 1984.
Tasneem has been lecturer in law on a private basis since 2010 and has been lecturer in law at Aberystwyth University Mauritius to final year LLB students. Tasneem is also an Associate Staff of a UK university.
She was a legal researcher at the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies ( under the aegis of the Supreme Court of Mauritius) and was also a member of the editing team of the IJLS newsletter.
Tasneem is the co-founder and President of PAPIM, a cancer-awareness ngo that aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle in society in order to prevent cancer.

Malik Laazouzi
Professor of Private Law, his research work covers mainly International Private Law and Arbitration. Member of the French Council of International Private Law and of the French Branch of the International Law Association, he teaches Commercial Arbitration Law, International Investment Law, International Commercial Law and Commercial and Contract Law.

Milan Meetarbhan
Milan J.N Meetarbhan is a Barrister whose main focus areas are Public Law and International law.
Dr Meetarbhan has experience of both the public and private sectors at national and international levels as an academic, law practitioner, adviser to Government, international civil servant, regulator and diplomat.
He has a long record of public service having served inter alia as Senior Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister, Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Finance, Board Member of the Stock Exchange Commission and Chairman of Mauritius Telecom.
He was the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Commission from December 2005 to December 2010 and served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Mauritius to the United Nations from January 2011 to January 2015.
He worked as an international civil servant based in Paris from 1982 to 1986.
In the course of his academic career he served as Associate Professor and Head of the law school at the University of Mauritius and has been Visiting Professor and guest lecturer at various universities and think-tanks. He was Visiting Fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi from January to May 2016.
His book, "Mauritian Constitutional Law- Constitution of Mauritius with Commentaries" was released in August 2017.
He has a long-standing interest in Ocean matters and was Co-Chair of the United Nations Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and the Law of the Sea from 2011-2014, President of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority 2012-2013, Chair of the National Dialogue on Ocean Economy, Mauritius 2013 and was appointed as Special Envoy of the Government of Mauritius on Ocean matters.
Dr Meetarbhan was conferred the title of Honorary Fellow in Law by the University of Mauritius in October 2007.
He was made Grand Officer of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.O.S.K) in the National Day Honours list in 2010.
Dr. Meetarbhan studied law in London and Paris. He was called to the Bar at the Middle Temple and then obtained a Diplôme d‘Etudes Approfondies en Droit des Relations Economiques Internationales et des Organisations Internationales from the Sorbonne, a Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures Specialisées en Diplomatie et Relations Internationales from UniversitéParis X1 and a Doctorate in International Law from the Sorbonne.

Raphaël Mellerio
Raphaél Mellerio is a French avocat with more than 20 years of experience in various business law areas, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial and industrial contracts and international commercial law.
After graduating from the universities of Paris and Edinburgh, he joined the international law firm Clifford Chance where he practiced in London and Paris and spent 10 years before founding the French law firm Aramis, a 30-lawyer firm based in Paris and spanning a wide range of business law areas.
Today, he and his team focus primarily on advising French and foreign clients in their investment projects in France and abroad (including other parts of Europe and Africa). He also assists companies on a regular basis in the setting up of complex agreements in the field of franchising and industrial transactions. He is a regular contributor to various legal publications on the subject of franchising.

Shakeel Mohamed
Shakeel Mohamed read law at the University of Buckingham and majored in European Law, French Contract Law, Competition Law, and International Trade Law. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1990 and to the Bar of Mauritius in 1992. He is a partner at MC Law Offices. His areas of practice cover mainly Intellectual Property Rights, Trusts, Information Technology and E-Commerce, Shipping, Litigation: Commercial and Corporate, and Tax Law.

Pauline Le Monnier de Gouville
Senior Lecturer of Criminal Law, her research work and teachings cover Criminology, General and Special Criminal Law, Criminal procedure. She is director of studies for the entrance exam to the regional professional training center for lawyers, and scientific director of the legal journal La Gazette du Palais.
She investigates the criminal phenomenons from all aspects (juvenile delinquency, sexual violence, homicides, "traditional" crimes, State crimes, organised crime, white-collar crime, etc.). The prevention and treatment of delinquency is another key subject (deterrent function of the sentence, factors of recidivism, factors of desistance, evidence-based models of treatment of offenders). This generalist approach is based on all social, legal, human and medical sciences (law, sociology, history, social psychology, psychiatry, genetics, neuroscience, etc.).

Thomas Perroud
Professor of Public Law, regularly invited as a guest in foreign universities, he specialises in Comparative Public Law. As a member of the jury for the Masters entrance exams at IEP, Paris, and member of the jury in Public Law of l’ENA (closed and open competition), he teaches Urban Planning Law, Community Rights Law, Public Economic Law, Public Finances and Human Rights Law.

Delphine Pujos
Litigation and arbitration lawyer, Delphine has been elected as a member of the French National Bar Council for a three year mandate (2018-2020) where she currently serves as the deputy chairman of the Commission in charge of Ethics of the French legal profession. From January 2013 to December 2015 she has served as an elected member of the Council of the Paris Bar association. With training in both civil law (Magistère de Juriste d’affaires, University Paris II Panthéon-Assas) and common law (LL. M., Columbia University), she has worked for more than 15 years in the Corporate and Litigation and Arbitration departments of international law firms (Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and Linklaters LLP). Her practice now focuses on in pre-contentious and litigation matters, involving in particular, contractual and commercial matters, complex financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions. She handles French as well as cross-border matters particularly in Africa.

Bishan Ramdenee
A member of the Chambers of Sir Hamid Moollan QC, Bishan Ramdenee was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2012 and the Mauritian Bar in 2015.
He has appeared before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and all the Mauritian Courts. He was awarded the Birmingham Law School Excellence Scholarship to read law at the University of Birmingham.
He also has an LL.M in International Business Law with specialisation in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration, International Financial Law, International Tax Law and Corporate Governance from King’s College, London.

Carlo Santulli
Professor of International and European Law, Carlo Santulli is the director of the Paris Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales (www.ihei.fr) and of the French leading public international law review: Revue générale de droit international public. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Revue française de droit administratif as well as of the scientific council of the review Diritti umani e diritto internazionale.

Célia Zolynski
Professor of Private law and codirector of the Master degree Digital law, business law and IP law of Paris Saclay University, she is specialized in European digital law and Intellectual Property.
Member of the Foresight Committee of the French Data protection authority (CNIL) and former member of the French Digital council (CNNum), she leads several national and European projects about privacy protection and business models promoting multidisciplinary researches with computer scientists and researchers on economic. She is the author of various publications on these topics.

Guillaume Bensussan
Guillaume Bensussan is an attorney at law registered with the New York Bar and currently omitted from the Paris Bar. He specializes in Commercial law with a focus on Intellectual Property, Trade Secrets and IT and has experience as an in-firm attorney in top-tier boutiques and law firms in France and as an individual practitioner.
Guillaume studied both Civil Law and Common Law at the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre (former Paris X) prior to obtaining his LL.M in Intellectual Property from the George Washington University Law School in Washington DC and a similarly oriented Master degree from the Paris II Panthéon-Assas University. He is currently based in Mauritius and works as a consultant in Intellectual Property strategy for both domestic and foreign clients.

Dipna Gunnoo
Dipna Gunnoo is the Head of the MCCI Arbitration & Mediation Center (MARC) which is the dispute resolution center of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). She has previously worked in the litigation and international arbitration teams of Dechert LLP (Paris office), Derains & Gharavi International (Paris office) and Brown Rudnick LLP (Paris and London offices) as well as the French-Mauritian law firm PLCJ which represents the Paris office of Bird & Bird in the Indian Ocean. She has also worked for 2 years as Counsel of LCIA-MIAC Arbitration Centre in Mauritius. Admitted to the Paris Bar and the Bar of Mauritius, she is a Mauritian national who is a graduate of the Sorbonne Law School (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). She holds Master’s degrees in Anglo-American Business Law (Sorbonne Law School) and in Global Business Law and Governance under the Alliance Program with Columbia Law School, Sciences Po Paris and the Sorbonne University.

Alexandre H. Le Blanc
He read law at the University of Kent, in Canterbury, where he underwent a LL.B (with Hons.) with French law. He graduated from the said University in June 2015. Subsequently, he undertook and completed the Bar professional training course at BPP University (Holborn), and was called to the Bar of England and Wales, at the honourable society of the Middle Temple, on the 24th of November 2016. He was thereafter called to the Bar of Mauritius on the 16th of January 2018. Since January 2018, he practises at the bar as a litigator conducting civil suits as well as penal matters.

Johanna Murugan-Crepin
Johanna Murugan-Crepin read law at the Université Paris XI, France, and graduated with a Licence en Droit. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Law and Political Sciences – International and European Law from the Université Paris XI and the Université Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France. She was admitted to the Nice Bar, France, in 2012 and thereafter practised as a Barrister in Nice, France. She was called to the Bar in Mauritius in 2018 and is currently practising at Dentons (Mauritius) LLP. Her main areas of practice are civil and commercial litigation, property law, planning and environmental law.

Darshani Parsuramen
Darshani Parsuramen holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Nottingham (UK), the Bar Professional Training Course from the University of Law London (UK) and an LLM in International Business Law from the Université Paris II Pantheon ASSAS (Mauritius), where she currently teaches. She has lived in Mauritius, the USA, France, Senegal and the UK.She was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in July 2013 and was called to the Bar of Mauritius in September 2014. She was a tenant at Sir Hamid Moollan Chambers QC for a year before starting her own practice in September 2015, where her practice focused on commercial matters.
She is currently the Legal and Compliance Manager for J&J Transport Africa Group of Companies since May 2017. She works with and travels to the business units in Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Malawi dealing with all aspects ranging from International Contracts to Global Anti-Corruption Compliance.

Navina Parsuramen
Navina Parsuramen presently sits as Magistrate in the Intermediate Court of Mauritius (Criminal Division). She joined the Judiciary 5 years ago as Senior District Magistrate and presided over the District Courts of Port Louis (Civil Division), Port Louis North (Criminal Division), Flacq (Civil and Criminal Divisions) and the Bail and Remand Court. She also regularly chairs Committees and Boards of Assessment. She practised law in Mauritius first as a private practitioner and then joined the State Law Office.
As State Counsel, she was assigned to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for 4 years and thereafter, to the Attorney General’s Office for 3 years. She is an experienced litigator in both criminal and civil matters. She has delivered legal training to court officers at the University of Mauritius and prosecution courses to officers of various Ministries. She holds an LLB (Honours) from the University of Exeter, England and an LLM in French and European Law from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne, France. As a member of the Middle Temple, she qualified as Barrister at the Inns of Court School of Law and was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 2004 and in Mauritius in 2005.

Sweta Ramsooroop
Sweta is a competent and charismatic practicing Barrister at Citilaw. She has a passion for litigation and her areas of practice extend to Civil Disputes, Employment Law, Family law, Criminal law, Commercial law and Company Law.
In addition to litigation, Sweta is also well versed in client conferencing, opinion writing and drafting of pleadings. She appears before all the courts of Mauritius as well as before tribunals and committees. She advises clients and appears on their behalf in different areas of law. Sweta read law at the University of London and did her Bar professional Training Course at the Cardiff University where she was awarded the Vice – Chancellor’s International Scholarship in 2017.

Abd-Ur-Rahman Sayed-Hossen
Abd-Ur-Rahman Sayed-Hossen has read law at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 in Lyon, France, graduating with a licence en droit in 2012. He also completed a LLB (Senior Status, with Honours) from the University of Central Lancashire, graduation in 2014. He completed his Bar professional training course at The University of Law (London Bloomsbury), and was called to the Bar of England and Wales, at the honourable society of the Lincoln’s Inn, in November 2016. He was called to the Bar of Mauritius in January 2018. He currently hold a private practice, representing both individual clients and corporate bodies. His main areas of practice are criminal and civil litigation, family law, commercial law and employment law.

Keertisha Servansingh
Keertisha Servansingh is a barrister at Madun Gujadhur Chambers with experience in criminal litigation; civil litigation and corporate/commercial matters.
She has appeared before various courts including the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, the Supreme Court of Mauritius, Intermediate Court, District Courts and Tribunals and has also worked as prosecuting counsel with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Keertisha’s practice includes local and international commercial/corporate work, especially transactional matters, preparing due diligence reports and advising corporate clients.

Smita Shersingh
Smita is a Barrister-at-Law whose main practice areas cover Taxation, Commercial and Corporate Law. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2010 and to the Mauritius Bar in 2012. She holds an LLM in Commercial and Corporate Law, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Dispute Resolution and a Postgraduate Certificate in Equity and Trusts.
She is currently the General Counsel of MITCO, a Trust and Corporate Services Group providing administration and fiduciary services to corporate, institutional and private investors. Prior to joining MITCO, she was a Senior Manager in the Tax and Legal Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), advising multinationals and domestic companies on regulatory and contentious issues.
Prior to joining PwC, she was the Legal Counsel of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) where she advised extensively on domestic and international taxation and represented the MRA before the Courts and Tribunals. Before joining the MRA, she was a Senior Legal Executive in Chambers where she advised in financial services, company law, employment law and delivered in-house legal courses to corporate clients as an MQA approved trainer.

Danisha Sornum
Danisha was called to the bar in 2015. She holds an LLM in International Commercial Law from the University of Birmingham, with specialization in International Arbitration and International Trade. She also holds a Master of Public Policy from the Ford School of public Policy, University of Michigan. Danisha has served as Member of the Equal Opportunities Commission.
She is the author of “Getting Into International Arbitration”, published in 2013. She has also been Consultant with various local and international institutions, including the Young Queer Alliance, the World Bank, and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Danisha’s law practice is focused on ADR and anti-discrimination laws.

Avina Uckiah
Avina Uckiah is a barrister admitted to the Bar of Mauritius and called to the Bar of England and Wales, whose areas of practice focus on commercial and corporate law, financial services, securities law, and banking and finance.
She has worked within law firms, advising mainly on financial services, regulatory and general corporate law matters, as well as structuring, taxation, investment funds and limited partnerships. Her experience includes advising local and international clients on various transactions involving securities, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and cross-border financing involving Mauritius vehicles. Avina has also acquired expertise in the drafting and vetting of a wide range of legal documents and agreements.
She currently works as in-house legal Counsel within a leading investor services group which supports fund managers, global companies, family offices and private clients operating worldwide.
